Heat Pump Installation & Repair in Macomb & St. Clair Counties
Efficient heating and cooling from one system. We install, repair, and maintain heat pumps for Michigan homes, including cold-climate and dual-fuel systems, and help you sort out which DTE rebates may apply.
One System for Year-Round Comfort
A heat pump heats your home in the winter and cools it in the summer by moving heat instead of burning fuel. In summer it works like a central air conditioner. In winter it runs in reverse, pulling heat from the outdoor air and bringing it inside.
Today’s cold-climate heat pumps are built to keep heating through Michigan winters. Many homeowners pair a heat pump with a gas furnace as backup, so the heat pump handles mild days and the furnace takes over in deep cold. That setup is called a dual-fuel system.
Whether you’re replacing electric baseboard heat, an aging air conditioner, or an electric furnace, our technicians will size and install the right system for your home and keep it running efficiently for years to come.

Good to know
- Rebate amounts depend on the equipment’s efficiency ratings (SEER2, HSPF2, and EER2).
- Homes heated with natural gas generally don’t qualify for the heat pump replacement rebate, but may qualify for DTE furnace rebates and central air rebates.
- Eligible homes are single-family (two or fewer connected units) and built more than 24 months before the purchase. First-time installations and new construction don’t qualify.
- Equipment must be installed by a DTE participating contractor, who submits the rebate for you. Checks arrive by mail in about 6 to 8 weeks.
- Funds are limited and paid first-come, first-served.
Is there still a federal tax credit?
No. The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (Section 25C), which covered up to $2,000 for heat pumps, ended for systems installed after December 31, 2025.
Income-qualified rebates
Households at or below 150% of area median income may qualify for Michigan Home Energy Rebates (MiHER), run by EGLE, which can help cover heat pumps and related electrical upgrades. Availability varies by area.
Rebate details from DTE Energy as of October 2026 and subject to change. Call us at (586) 366-4328 and we’ll help you figure out which rebates fit your home and equipment.
- FAQ'S
Common Heat Pump Questions
Do heat pumps work in Michigan winters?
Yes. Cold-climate heat pumps are designed to keep heating in below-freezing temperatures. Many Michigan homes also keep a gas furnace as backup for the coldest days, which is called a dual-fuel system.
Can I get a DTE rebate on a heat pump?
If you are a DTE residential electric customer replacing electric heating, you may qualify for up to $1,200 on a cold-climate air source heat pump. Homes heated with natural gas generally don’t qualify for the heat pump rebate but may qualify for DTE furnace and central air rebates. The equipment must be installed by a DTE participating contractor.
Is there still a federal tax credit for heat pumps?
No. The federal Section 25C credit, which covered up to $2,000 for heat pumps, ended for systems installed after December 31, 2025.
Can I keep my gas furnace and add a heat pump?
Yes. A dual-fuel system uses a heat pump for most of the year and switches to your gas furnace in deep cold. It’s a common upgrade when an air conditioner needs replacing.
